Support Me As I Walk4ALZ!
October 18th our team will walk for the 10th year in a row to raise funds for Alzheimer's San Diego. This is a local fund raising event, to provide support for much needed care and education for those families that are affected. The Alzheimer's San Diego team does an excellent job of helping people who just don't know where else to turn for help.
We know how important that support can be since we lost two family members to this dreaded disease- my sister Michele, who succumbed to the disease in 2013 at age 60 and Mary Ann Shraeder, our step mom, in 2008 at age 68.
For those of you that have been fortunate enough not to have directly experienced the impact of Alzheimer's might I suggest the rerading of a book published this year- "The Valley of Alzheimer's Families and the Search for a Cure" by Jenne Erin Smith. It will bring you to Medellin, Columbia where a large cluster or residents of certain villages has suffered memory loss as they reached middle age, going on to die in their 50's. I'm certain this will give you insight into the devastation of this disease and its potential genetic link.
As many of you have year after year, I hope you will find it to make a tax exempt donation today by clicking on the link below. Please give as generously as you can but remember, big or small, every dollar makes a difference. If you are unable to contribute at this time, I hope you will spread the news of this worthy organization.
I sincerely thank you for your consideration and support!
